Plastics in Humans
Research, awareness and policy action on the health effects of micro- and nanoplastics.
Growing research links plastic particles in food, water and packaging to serious health risks, yet awareness of the problem remains low. The circle, led by Dr. Sarah McCue, brings together scientists, sustainability experts, media professionals and educators to find practical ways to reduce exposure and prevent new plastic pollution.
Everyone exposed to plastics through food, water and air.
Started as a Knowledge Impact Network circle. Current work streams: using AI to find patterns across thousands of studies on plastic exposure and disease; turning the research into short videos and a youth-focused documentary; pushing for new funding for research into removing plastic particles from the body; and working in a coalition for stronger policy on toxic plastics in food and water systems.
